Woman mistaken for a man settles NY lawsuit

A woman ejected from the female restroom after a New York City restaurant mistook her for a man has settled her discrimination lawsuit for $35,000, she said on Tuesday.

Khadijah Farmer , a 28-year-old lesbian, ate at the Caliente Cab Restaurant Co. last July with her girlfriend and a friend after marching in the gay pride parade in Greenwich Village.

When Farmer went to use the restroom, the restaurant’s bouncer told her men were not allowed in the women’s room, according to the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, which filed the lawsuit.

Farmer said she volunteered to produce identification proving she was female but was rebuffed. A representative of the restaurant was not immediately available for comment.

Transgender man expelled from gym

A Christchurch transgender man claims his sexuality rather than body odour is behind the termination of his gym membership and has laid a complaint with the Human Rights Commission. Andrew Dobson says his Pro-Fitness gym membership was terminated last month after a manager told him complaints had been received from other members about his body odour. ADVERTISEMENT He said the gym really wanted rid of him because he’d made it known he planned to make the transition to living permanently as a woman this month. Mr Dobson said he was called into the manager’s office on April 7 and told the gym had many complaints about his body odour, that he was using the sauna “inappropriately,” and had made comments about staff. Intimacy Without Anal

My boyfriend and I have been together on and off for a year now. During our time away I contracted HIV. My partner is still negative. Issues come and go, but a major problem for us has been sex both prior to and after my diagnosis. I am less interested in sexual intercourse than he is and this leads him to believe that I am not happy with him. The thing is that I have never been “WOW-ed” by sex with anyone. I can pretty much take it or leave it. I try to indulge him as much as I can, but there is never enough… I am personally fine with our sex life because sex doesn’t matter to me. Gay-friendliest brands in business year 2008

Bravo, Apple Computer and Levi’s win top marks in a survey of LGBT consumers, while Wal-Mart, Dunkin Donuts and ExxonMobil are the most gay-unfriendly.

Sixty-eight percent of respondents said that they are more likely to consume from a company that they consider to be gay-friendly, according to the study’s report.

Furthermore, 71 percent of gay and lesbian consumers said they have a more favorable impression of companies or products that feature gay imagery in their advertising. Prime Access CEO Howard Buford noted that Levi’s recently featured a gay couple in TV advertising.

“The study reveals that gays and lesbians are fiercely loyal customers to brands they perceive as reaching out to them,” Buford said in a statement. “A marketing communications program directed at the gay and lesbian audience can be a significant opportunity for brands to build business.”

More than 2,000 adults aged 18-64 participated in the study, which was broken down by general population with 1,502 respondents and 757 gay and lesbian respondents.

14 held, 1,800 condoms seized at gay sauna

Police detained 14 men in a fitness and sauna centre believed to be a front for gay activities in Malaysia.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid said six men, all naked, were caught in three toilets while the others were found patronising the joint.

“We also found used condoms littered all over the place.”

He said the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, had been remanded to assist in investigations into immoral activities at the centre.

He said police raided the premises after keeping it under surveillance for a while.

“This was the third time the centre was raided since last November.”

He said police would make a recommendation to the local authorities to close down the centre.

On Nov 5 last year, police raided the centre and discovered it was used to host a sex party. They rounded up 34 men, aged between 22 and 55. Among those arrested was a Briton.

After much anticipation on the set of ABC’s “Brothers & Sisters,” a wedding cake has arrived. The four-tier creation — adorned with flowers and blackberries — is locked in a freezer, out of sight from the curious cast members, who are wondering what the cake topper looks like.

Spotting a prop woman with the topper in her hands, Matthew Rhys — whose character, Kevin, weds Sunday (10 p.m. ET/PT) in the show’s Season 2 finale — calls her over. “Is it a man and a woman?” he asks. Getting a closer look, Rhys smiles and says, “Oh, it’s two men. Fantastic. World Cup legend Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima claims he was stunned when the feminine hookers he was partying with turned out to have penises.
